You have been coming to CFW for around four years I believe… how did you come about starting up?

 The one and only Genice …. She was my PT at Les Mills, after finally convincing me to try her Blast Off class, which was my first taste of CF I was instantly hooked. Not long after that she opened up her first box on view road and that’s when the fun really began.

 What sort of exercise were you doing before you joined? I think I have only ever seen you looking super fit and running past me on WOD’s.

Ha ha whatever! Ummm things like running on a treadmill cross trainer, some weights… oh and let’s not forget the body combat classes I was a regular 3x a week for like 3 years, I loved that class …ha ha.

How often do you train in an average week?

Up until I was pregnant I was training 4-5x a week, but while I’m pregnant I am managing about three.

How important is staying healthy and fit to you and your family?

Extremely important, it is part of our lifestyle I couldn’t imagine it not being part of our lives and I want it to become a natural thing for my children and their families in the future.

Do you remember your first CF workout and what it felt like afterwards?

Ummm I think it consisted of Wall Balls, running and sit ups. I remember seeing Tanya Hammond smashing it and I was like, who is this wonder woman!

How do you push though a difficult WOD?

If it’s an Amrap I try to pick a number I want to get to and work towards that. And if it is for time I try to just have as little breaks as possible. I just keep telling myself you aren’t going to die ha ha!

 You are weeks away from having your second baby (and looking frikkin amazing and strong). How has it been training through this pregnancy? How do you feel?

Oh gee thanks! I feel amazing, training through this pregnancy has been no worries at all, I just listen to my body and with having the awesome coaches we have to help with scaled variations of things I may not be able to do, has given the confidence to carry on. I still find I have managed to keep most of my strength which is great.

And how has this differed from the first time around?

Totally different the things I do now while pregnant I wasn’t even able to do before I was pregnant with my first child. I just happened to come across my old programs that I had written up by Genice when I was pregnant a lot of Swiss ball exercises… so I think that gives you a bit of an idea!

What kind of reaction do you get from people outside of the box if you don’t mind me asking (to training)?

Mixed I still get the ‘oh so your still doing crossfit’ mind you those are the people who have no idea what it is all about really! And I’m like ‘Hell yea’ I’m not sick or injured I am just pregnant!

And other people are like good on ya, including my midwife. She thinks it’s great and encourages it.

 Is it a coincidence that you and Bunny (who is a midwife) are in the same 0915 class?

Ha ha I don’t know is it?? I’m sure she cringes at some of the things I do but its great reassurance to have her there! 

Also, who can deadlift more – you or Mike?

Hang on let me just ask him how much he can do…… Oh yeah looks like I am the winner by 5kg whoop!

What/who motivates you at the box?

Coaches, members and good music..

Pistol Squats and HSPU

Least favourite?

SNATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering starting out at CFW, what would it be?
Don’t think too much about it, get in for to a free trial and the rest will be history.
